State Office of Industrial Property of Macedonia – 54to attended session of the General Assembly of the World Intellectual Property Organization WIPO, held at the organization’s headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
During the meeting of the Assembly, specifically the September 22, 2014, the State Office of Industrial Property of the Republic of Macedonia signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market OHIM, located in Alicante, Spain. Thus, the Republic of Macedonia is included in the harmonized system of this European organization that regulates the protection of trademarks and industrial design. Given that Reppublic of Macedonia is not a member of the European Union, it is only partially connected to the organization in a manner that will contribute to the acquisition simpler when it comes to these industrial property rights.
Expected as a result of cooperation to improve the capacity of the Institute to work on the plan by monitoring systematized training offered by the organization, share registers of protected rights and reported from both institutions and participation in joint projects that provide simplification of procedures recognition of the rights and improving and simplifying access to information relating to the system of protection of the right of trademark and industrial design.
