CIPO announced that, effective January 13, 2014 the Office has updated its trade-marks collection according to the amendments implemented by the WIPO through its latest 7th version.
The Vienna Classification is an international standard administered by the World Intellectual Property Office to classify the figurative elements of trade-marks. Its structure represents a hierarchical system that will divide and assign a numerical code to each graphic element in a trade-mark design.
The Canadian Intellectual Property Office reminds also that the use of this standard since 2003 helps to classify and search online figurative elements of trade-marks in the online the Canadian trade-marks database.
