With a decision of the Academic board of the University for National and World Economy from July 10, 2013 the Intellectual Property Center was transformed into Institute of Intellectual Property and Leadership
The Intellectual Property Center was established by the Academic board on 01.09.2003 as a main service unit of the University of National and World Economy. It was opened by the President of Bulgaria Mr. Georgi Parvanov, the Director-General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Dr. Kamil Idris and the Minister of Education Dr. Igor Damyanov.
The center works as information and consultation center providing services for researchers, students, faculty, staff, and all stakeholders in the business and non-profit organizations in the country and abroad on various issues related to intellectual property. The aim of the Centre is to provide information on:
• the nature of the system of intellectual property protection;
• opportunities to protect scientific research results as objects of intellectual property;
• opportunities for economic exploitation of scientific research products;
• trends in the development of the intellectual property system;
• national and international initiatives in the field of intellectual property.
It is agreed that the Center shall become a branch of the World Academy of Intellectual Property, in accordance with which the Academy will provide MA educational programs in intellectual property that could be distance learning programs.
There will be a change of the website address of the IP center.
