The celebration of the 50th anniversary of UPOV in Geneva was a get-together of who-is-who in Plant Variety Protection. More than 150 representatives of UPOV members, the management and the staff of the UPOV office and of WIPO, as well as several representatives of observers attended the celebration of UPOV´s 50th anniversary in Geneva.
CIOPORA was invited, as one of the two breeders´ organizations that participated in all three UPOV diplomatic conferences, to address the audience during the anniversary dinner.
In the presence of several CIOPORA Board members and of its honorary member Alain Meilland, Andrea Mansuino congratulated UPOV to 50 years of dedication to plant breeders´ rights and to the establishment of a solid protection system for plant innovations. He, however, also stressed the need for continuous improvement and the importance of bringing the system in accordance to recent developments in the breeding world.
The venue of the anniversary dinner was decorated with beautiful rose arrangements kindly sponsored by Meilland International on behalf of CIOPORA.
