OHIM is to lead the network of EU agencies in 2016. At the Heads of European Union Agencies and Heads of Administrations meeting in Vienna today, OHIM was elected to join the network´s troika group for a three year period, beginning in March 2015, and taking over the chair of the network in 2016.
There are currently 41 EU Agencies, located across the EU member states – meaning that they are the closest physical EU presence to many citizens across the Union.
The agencies work across a variety of issues which affect EU citizens on a daily basis, including education, food safety, industry, working conditions, health and safety, justice, transport, business and innovation.
The EU Agency Network was established to improve coordination, information exchange and agreement of common positions on issues of shared interest across EU agencies, further improving their efficient and effective functioning.
The European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound) will chair the network in 2015, taking over from the Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) which took the helm during 2014.
