„The declaration, which unites the Mediterranean countries mostly engaged with the fight against counterfeits ( Bulgaria, Spain, Italy, Morocco, Portugal, Romania, Tunis, Turkey and France) aims:
· better coordination of the fight against counterfeits;
· to continue to inform the customers and to intensify their sensitivity in relation with the problem, particularly the specialized exhibitions and in the tourist zones;
· increasing of the penal measures against the violators and their spreaders, especially in Internet.
Emphasizing on the fact, that counterfeits are dangerous for the health and safety of the customers, innovations and the competitive power of the companies, as well as for the employment and economics of the Mediterranean countries, Liuk Shatel reminded for the decision from 25 September 2008, during the French presidency of the European Union, regarding the global plan for fight against counterfeits.
„The Declaration from Can” is signed in connection with the 24th edition of the Fair TFWA World Exhibition* during the round table regarding the problems of the fight against counterfeits”.
