The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify him of the deposit by the Government of New Zealand, on July 16, 2013, of its instrument of accession to the Nice Agreement Concerning the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks of June 15, 1957, as revised at Stockholm on July 14, 1967, and at Geneva on May 13, 1977, and as amended on September 28, 1979. The said instrument contained the contained the following declaration:
- consistent with the constitutional status of Tokelau and taking into account the commitment of the Government of New Zealand to the development of self government for Tokelau through an act of self determination under the Charter of the United Nations, this accession shall not extend to Tokelau unless and until a Declaration to this effect is lodged by the Government of New Zealand with the Depositary on the basis of appropriate consultation with that territory.
The Nice Agreement, as revised and amended, will enter into force, with respect to New Zealand, on October 16, 2013.
