CIPO is pleased to announce a new Global Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) pilot program starting January 6, 2014. The Global PPH agreement includes partnerships with many of CIPO’s current PPH partners with the addition of seven new IP offices: IP Australia, the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office (HIPO), the Icelandic Patent Office (IPO), the Nordic Patent Institute (NPI), the Norwegian Industrial Property Office (NIPO), the Russian Federal Service of Intellectual Property (ROSPATENT), and the Swedish Patent and Registration Office (PRV).
In addition to the Global PPH agreement, CIPO has a new bilateral PPH agreement with Mexico.
About the Patent Prosecution Highway
The Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) allows you to significantly fast-track examination of your patent application if you have a corresponding application with one of our PPH partner countries. If you meet the requirements, your application will be examined sooner, at no additional charge above regular fees.
Global PPH
The global agreement simplifies the current PPH process by using one set of qualifying requirements for all PPH partner countries. You can now make a PPH request based on national or international (PCT) work products to any or all of the 16 participating international intellectual property offices.
Mexico PPH
CIPO is proud to announce a new bilateral PPH partnership with Mexico also beginning on January 6, 2014. This pilot agreement allows you to fast-track examination of your patent application between Mexico and Canada, and follows the regular PPH requirements.
