New Bilateral PCT-PPH pilot programs: Israel Patent Office and Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO); Spanish Patent and Trademark Office and KIPO; National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) (Portugal) and State Intellectual Property Office of the People’s Republic of China; INPI (Portugal) and KIPO
On 1 January 2014, new two-way PCT-PPH pilot programs started. Under these programs, faster examination in the national phase in one country is available on the basis of a PCT application with a positive written opinion from either the International Searching Authority (ISA) or the International Preliminary Examining Authority (IPEA), or a positive international preliminary report on patentability (IPRP) (Chapter II) (that is, where at least one of the claims has been determined as patentable), issued by the Office of the other country in its capacity as ISA/IPEA.
