INTA- 131st ANNUAL MEETING

MAY 16 – 20, 2009 SEATTLE

The International Trademark Association’s (INTA’s) Annual Meeting is the one must-attend event in the intellectual property field, and the 2009 Annual Meeting in Seattle is set to be the best yet. Over the course of five days, there will be continuous opportunities for networking, education and professional development, as well as committee meetings and exhibits. The three days of educational programs include valuable skill-building workshops, industry breakouts and trademark law sessions focused on international topics, as well as table topics during breakfast and lunch. Everyone should visit the exhibition hall, with more than 90 exhibitors featuring new products and cutting-edge demonstrations. The schedule is packed with networking opportunities, making the INTA Annual Meeting the only place where you can meet with thousands of your colleagues and stay current on trademark developments.

Sessions and Industry Breakouts

Participate in a conference filled with sessions on timely issues affecting the IP world. This meeting will turn the spotlight on the increasingly important social and environmental issues that have changed how marketers and agencies reach consumers.
A selection of educational sessions will shed light on how brands and trademarks are affected by this new trend and how the trend might affect IP lawyers and their everyday practice. This trend, which is not likely to be short lived, has begun to change the way brands are used and trusted by consumers.

The educational component of this meeting is designed to focus on a wide variety of trademark law and related issues. The schedule each day is packed with interactive workshops, informative industry breakouts and exciting educational sessions.

The cross-discipline programming focuses on a variety of topics, including worldwide Customs law enforcement mechanisms, anticounterfeiting issues and updates, trademark clearance, prosecution, portfolio management, opinion letter drafting, trademark surveys, international trademark filing and the securitization and collateralization of brands. Additionally, similar to last year, a series of Regional Update sessions for Africa, China, the European Union, the Middle East, Latin America, and East and South East Asia replace the previous Annual Review of International Case Law session. Also scheduled is a full complement of Industry Breakout Sessions containing a cross-discipline focus on regulatory and trademark issues relating to the sports and entertainment, pharmaceuticals, luxury goods, Internet, consumer goods and retail services industries.

An assortment of workshops on practical, substantive issues will provide valuable insights and an unparalleled opportunity to polish your skills. Brainstorm with experts to learn how to successfully draft a multinational trademark clearance opinion letter, participate in a mock mediation proceeding led by expert attorneys from around the world and acquire pre-filing litigation strategies.
