As of 11 November 2019, Ecuador’s National Service of Intellectual Rights (SENADI) has made its design data available to the DesignView search tools.
With SENADI on board DesignView now contains data from 70 participating offices. With the addition of more than 2600 industrial designs from SENADI, DesignView provides information and access to more than 14,8 million designs in total. Since the introduction of DesignView on 19 November 2012, the tool has served more than 5,1 million searches from 163 different countries, with the UK, Germany and China among the most frequent users.
Designview is a centralized access point to view the registered design information held by any of the participating National Offices, in a unique presentation format, independently of which office the data is coming from. Although this data is accessible via a centralized system each Office remains the owner of the data and continues to be responsible for its updating and maintenance.
The integration of SENADI in DesignView is a concrete result of the IP Key Latin America programme directed by the European Commission and executed by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
