As part of the European Patent Office’s (EPO) celebration of the 40th anniversary of the European Patent Convention (EPC) the EPO is staging an Innovation Contest for students in the European Patent Organisation’s member states.
The contest is open to students of all disciplines who are at least 18 years old, and enrolled at a university, college or equivalent academic institution.
Candidates will be asked to define a research project of potential interest for future research and development in one of the following five fields:
A. Sustainable food production.
B. Eco-friendly energy production and storage.
C. Waste management, recycling and urban mining.
D. Smart transport and traffic management systems.
E. Smart house technology.
The UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO) will select one candidate (which may be an individual or team) for each technical field who will go forward to the European competition. Eventual winners in each of these fields will be invited to an award ceremony in Munich in October 2013 and will receive a prize of €5000.
You must submit a project outline to the IPO no later than 24 February 2013.
