“Award for contribution to the development of intellectual property ®

The winner of already established in professional areas “Best contribution to the development of intellectual property®” dr.eng. Krastio Iliev is an engineer by training. He starts his professional development in plant “Struma” and then began to be actively engaged in innovation as a research associate at the Institute of Mechanical Technology, where he worked for 13 years. In 1968 he became a senior research associate and in 1970 as a result of the research he got doctor’ degree in Institute of Odesa. Eng. Krastio Iliev has 3 inventions resulting from his achievements in research and development research. His experience is valuable in his work in the Council of Ministers as an advisor on licensing activity. Then he headed the Institute of Inventions and rationalization. During his presidency in 1982, Bulgaria is the first country to host the first forum of patent organizations. Under the direction of eng. Krastio Iliev Bulgaria has achieved very much for raising the level of experts dealing with intellectual property and much of the attention he paid to the preparation and provision of inventors as indisputable fact remains that in 1987 has filled 4200 applications for inventions. In comparison the current was being ten times less /300-450per year/. Also dr.eng.Iliev actively working on Bulgaria’s accession to the International Patent Cooperation Treaty, as a result of it the Bulgarian inventors are allowed to have easier and cheaper protection of their inventions out of the our country limits and they get also an opportunity to use information on innovation carried out in the world. He carried out active cooperation with WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) and develops a program for the development of intellectual potential of young people in Bulgaria. Following the adoption of the Patent Law in 1993 dr. Krastio Iliev has become the first President of the Bulgarian Patent Office. He is a lecturer and an active supporter of education launched in UNWE specialty in “Economics and Management of Intellectual Property”. Subsequently Iliev is a Bulgarian and European patent agent, industrial property agent, as he is working in Bulgarian Industrial Association and he is a prominent expert in the field of intellectual property, respected by many colleagues in the world and he is a symbol of the Bulgarian IP professional community.

The main objective of the award for „Best contribution to the development of intellectual property, R“ is to give due recognition and to actively encourage people to respect intellectual property in the country.  
Prize awarded persons for contribution to the development of intellectual property are: Eng Tyanko Stoilov (recognized expert in the field of intellectual property, many years he organized lectures for inventors in Plovdiv), Ina Kileva (Deputy Minister of Culture), Vladimir Yossifov (long time being Director at the World Intellectual Property Organization, working for the promotion of innovation in the world and with his overall work, performance and international reputation, built positive image of Bulgaria as a country actively present in the global IP policy, Geneva), Dr. George Sarakinov (recognized expert in the field of copyright) these were awarded with a diploma for 2006; Ivan Georgiev – Rembrand (1938 – 1994) (painter – the father of abstract expressionism in our country), Ivo Hadjimishev (photographer – create an  image campaign „Piracy Rob“ ), Violeta Radkova (stage, a representative of the prominent artists in Rousse),Maria Sekerdzhieva (Deputy Minister of Justice, with prominent position in the negotiation process for accession of Bulgaria to the European Union – Negotiator for Intellectual Property). 
This year in the World Intellectual Property Day the focus is on innovation and the activities of artists contributing to the conservation of ecological balance on the Earth. This day gives us the opportunity to think about the role of intellectual property protection to stimulate innovation and creativity against violations and creating a favorable environment for its development.
