There is an increase of Mexican computing industry in many domains. Salomon Garza Castro is analyzing the growth`s aspects related to intellectual property starting from a disproportion of patent applications and granted patents in Mexico, which he explains with the fact that computer programs are not considered inventions as per the Industrial Property Law.
The number of patent applications and granted patents in México concerning computing area is not equal to the number of total developments applied. Although the number of patent applications filed and granted patents in México has significantly increased and this tendency continues, which will hopefully stimulate future amendments of the Industrial Property Law.
