The Board of CIOPORA has decided to establish a working group on Biotechnology. The working group shall be established and governed according the new rules for proceedings for CIOPRA working groups. The members of the group shall have sufficient expertise in breeding and biotechnology. To be a member in this group is a personal responsibility and once the group is set up, its composition should not be changed.
The chairman of working group should be Dr. Ir. Jan de Riek, who is a senior researcher, ILVO, Belgium. He proposed to be discussed the following topics:
1. The use of molecular markers for DUS examination;
2. The proper use of molecular markers in the assessment of essential derivation;
3. The use of molecular markers for variety identifications
