Dr. .Filipov was the first Director of the Macedonian Patent Office and 6 years have run this institution in which the foundations of the Macedonian system of protection of intellectual property were established. Under his leadership preparations for the accesion of Republic of Macedonia to the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), 1995 and the Agreement for extension of the European patent in the territory of Macedonia, 1997. These two agreements were the basis for the country’s accession to the European Patent Convention , That has been realised in 2008 at the session of the Administrative Council of the EPO on which Macedonia was represented by Dr. Filipov, then as Ambassador of Republic of Macedonia in Berlin. Professor Dr. . Gjorgji Filipov was 5 years President of the Association of Inventors and Authors of Technical Improvements of Macedonia . Invitation to celebration of the anniversary and meetings of Amb. Filipov with the President of the EPO , Batisteli and President of the European Patent Institute Tony Tangena, are recognitions to Macedonia and dr. Filipov , for participation in the development of the patent system in Europe.
