The USTR report shows the appreciation of the United States for Algeria’s efforts on intellectual property awareness, its accession to the WIPO Internet Treaties, and the “improved coordination of enforcement agencies”. On the other side, the reason Algeria remains on the Priority Watch List for 2014 is the prohibiting of the import for some pharmaceutical products and medical devices in favor of local ones. The United States is also expecting the results of the efforts of improving the intellectual property protection in Algeria and will continue supporting the country in joining the WTO.
