It is recalled that the Indian Patent Office was appointed as International Searching Authority (ISA) and International Preliminary Examining Authority (IPEA) under the PCT at the 36th session of the Assembly of the PCT Union which was held in September 2007 (see PCT Newsletter No. 10/2007, page 2). The Office has notified WIPO that it will commence operations as an ISA and an IPEA with effect from 15 October 2013, in respect of international applications filed on or after that date with the Indian Patent Office as receiving Office (RO/IN), or with the International Bureau as receiving Office by applicants who are eligible to file with RO/IN.
Information about the Office in its capacity as ISA and IPEA, including the fees that are payable to the Office, has been published in the PCT Applicant’s Guide, Annexes D (IN) and E (IN). The search and preliminary examination fees are also indicated in PCT Fee Tables I(b) and II, respectively.
