The office for industrial property of Republic of Kosovo is the newest office which has been founded in the region -19.03.2007 and soon it is celebrating its fourth anniversary. During this period the office has gained a lot of experience on fields such as administration and registration of rights and objects of industrial property.
The protection of industrial property objects is regulated by law which has been approved several years ago.

- Law of Industrial Design (Law No. 02/ L-45)
- Law of Trade Marks (Law No. 02/ L-54)
During this year or the following year, there are three new laws waiting to be approved by the parliament of Republic of Kosovo: the Law of Trade Marks, the Law of Industrial Design and the Law of Patents.
Kosovo is not a signatory of any international agreement or convention, so the applications for registration of industrial property objects should only be done through the national way which is fully functional and free to apply.
The office of Industrial Property of Republic of Kosovo has begun the process of acceptance from 19.11.2007. The dates for transfer of rights protected in Office for Patents in ex-YU – Belgrade it was valid till 18 November 2008. During this period the office has received more than 21000 applications for registration, most of them are Trade Marks (19000) and the others are Patents and Industrial design. Half of all applications are Re-registration and others are New Trade Marks applications.
Official fees are not expensive (40 euro for an application up to three classes), approximately the same price applies for the registration.
