Japan joins Designview search tool

DesignviewAs of 04 December 2017 the Japan Patent Office (JPO) has made its design data available to the Designview search tool.

The Japan Patent Office is located in Kasumigaseki, Chiyoda, Tokyo and is one of the world’s largest patent offices. It’s mission is to promote the growth of the Japanese economy and industry by administering the laws relating to patents, utility models, designs, and trademarks.

With JPO on board, Designview now contains data from 62 participating offces. With the addition of more than 525,000 designs from JPO, Designview provides information and access to more than 13.2 million designs.

Designview is a centralized access point to view the registered design information held by any of the participating National Offices, in a unique presentation format, independently of which office the data is coming from.

The design search tool will be based on the data of the registers of the participating offices, the WIPO and the EUIPO.

Since the introduction of the design search tool on 19 November 2012 it has served more than 3.1 million searches from 159 different countries, with users from Germany, the UK and Spain among the most frequent users.
