Global sport events can be a great “opportunity” for counterfeiters. That is why the country must be prepared for the attention of the word IP Community. Given the recommendations that GIPS gave to Brazil in the 2014 International IP Index regarding the improvement of the country`s intellectual property protection, this will be the moment for Brazil to show positive results.

However, there are already signs of progress in this direction, proven by initiatives as “City Free of Piracy” of The National Council Against Piracy and Intellectual Property Crimes aiming to fight piracy and intellectual property theft by local law enforcement, showing how the industry and the government should collaborate.
