State council discusses new strategy for the intellectual property of Kosovo

On July 22, 2014, at the Ministry of Trade and Industry the Intellectual Property State Council held a meeting.  The meeting discussed Kosovo Intellectual Property system’s challenges and progress as well as the new strategy for Intellectual Property Right 2015-2018. 

The Council members’ recommendation for the new strategy was focused on working harder for establishing partnership with the business community, lobbing for membership of Kosovo into the regional and international organization for the Intellectual Property Right, as well as working on awareness of the citizens and small and medium companies in regard to this matter. 

Intellectual Property State Council is a body established based to the Ministry of Trade and Industry decision of year 2011. Members of this Council are: Representative of the Industrial Property Agency –MTI; Representative of Copyright and Related Rights Office –    MCYS; Representative of Kosovo Customs; Representative of Kosovo Police Directory for Economic Crimes and Corruption Investigation; Representative of Market Inspectorate –MTI; Representative from Kosovo Juridical Council; and Representative from the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council. 

While Council’s associated members are: Representative of Kosovo Medicines Agency; Representative of Food and Veterinary Agency of Kosovo;  Representative of the Agency for Managing Seized and Confiscated Assets; Representative of Kosovo Agency for Environmental Protection; and other representatives of Non Government Organizations of social and economic interest in intellectual property right can be invited with the Council President invitation to participated at the meetings depending on the Council agenda for the discussion.
