After the amendments of the Law on trademarks and geographical indications from 2010, the well-known and the famous trademarks on the territory of Republic of Bulgaria were left without a register, as the most important issue – the lack of clarity and access to information about which are the trademarks and signs announced with the relevant decision – remained unsolved.
The Industrial Property Representatives Chamber, Association of Trademark Owners in Bulgariaand the National intellectual property portal ipbulgaria.bg initiated the current project with the aim to create such public list and database – with free access, in order to help the owners of such signs, as well as applicants for trademarks, industrial property representatives, researchers and all interested parties.
The aim of the projects is to give publicity and to present the owners and representatives of famous trademarks or well-known trademarks on theterritoryofRepublicofBulgaria, as well as to create a possibility for granting well-renown of trademarks and signs for theterritoryofRepublicofBulgaria.
The register aims to be self-supporting, at the same time offering a public service with low cost, while ensuring transparency of procedures and quality control by specialists in the industrial property field.
