6th Annual WIPO-KIPO-KAIST-KIPA Advanced International Certificate Course on IP Asset Management for Business Success Based on the IP PANORAMATM Multimedia Toolkit in English IP-panoramaThe World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), and the Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA) are jointly offering the advanced international certificate course on IP Asset Management for business success based on IP PANORAMATM Multimedia toolkit in English.

This course consists of the following three components:

Step 1) Online course;
Step 2) IP essay test; and
Step 3) Offline program.

The online course will be offered three times, for six weeks per session, all in English and with the assistance of course administrators and tutors through the KIPA e-learning website (http://www.ipdiscovery.net/_HTML/course_view.php?id=60).  It is based on the twelve modules of the English IP PANORAMA as per the following schedule:

Session 1: March 18 to April 29, 2015 (Enrollment: March 3 to 17, 2015)

Session 2: May 7 to June 17, 2015 (Enrollment: April 22 to May 6, 2015)

Session 3: June 24 to August 5, 2015 (Enrollment: June 9 to 23, 2015)

Students who successfully complete a session of the online course with at least 80% of course attendance and a grade of 60% or above in the final exam will be eligible for the IP essay test.

Up to 12 students from developing countries who are top performers in both the online course (Step1) and the IP essay test (Step 2) will be given an opportunity to participate in the offline program, which is a three-day face-to-face training to learn and discuss some advanced topics and issues on IP asset management.  These students will receive a scholarship to cover travel and accommodations in Seoul, Republic of Korea, in November.

    The new EU trade mark Regulation enters into force on March 23rd. As a result, the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) will change its name to the European Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

    The amending Regulation also revises the fees payable to the Office, including an overall reduction in their amounts, particularly in the case of trade mark renewal fees. On 23.3. 2016, the Office’s online application forms and fee calculator will be automatically updated to reflect the new system.
    From its base in Alicante, Spain, OHIM has processed more than 1.3 million Community trade mark applications in 23 EU languages, from nearly every country and region in the world, since 1996.

    The Amending Regulation was published on 24 December 2015 and is part of the EU trade mark reform legislative package that also includes the replacement of the existing EU Trade Mark Directive (Directive 2008/95/EC of the European Parliament and the Council).

    OHIM is the EU’s largest decentralised agency. It is entirely self-financed, receiving no funding from the EU Budget. As well as managing the Community trade mark and the registered Community design (RCD), it works in collaboration with the EU national and regional IP offices to build a stronger IP system across the EU for the benefit of users.
